As we enter 2023 there are two questions on my mind. How can we move support and prayer beyond just the clergy and what should we be calling this thing? Mission Community 3 is not a very imaginative name! So what could we go for? We are parishes in and around the City Centre with one parish in Salford and the rest in Manchester. Two ideas that we had are “2 Cities” or “2 Rivers”. referring to Salford and Manchester or Irwell and Medlock. Both names have interesting connections to biblical imagery that we could play with. What do you think of these two ideas or what other suggestions do you have? On the question of how we move beyond just the clergy, we would also welcome your ideas! What might work for you? Would you like some kind of social gathering or a prayer meeting or should we just think of activities we already do that we could invite each other to? Your suggestions would be welcome.
