Graham Ashworth

It is with immense sadness that we report that Graham Ashworth on Wednesday 23rd April had a heart attack at home and died before the emergency services could get to him. We are all devastated and will miss him terribly. Graham has been a wonderful Church Warden for us at Sacred Trinity for the last couple of years throwing himself into the role with enthusism and good humour. He started coming to church after getting to know us through the Camera Club and I still remember him asking me “would it be alright to come along to church?” Of course I said yes!

Graham has been through some dark times in his life but had rebuilt and would always say that he was giving back through his volunteering. He was well known through Talk About it Mate and Incredible Edible as well as church. He was involved with the Ramblers, with Swinton Runnning Club and of course Chapel Street Camera Club. Graham had become fitter and more active and was leading walks, running regularly and was planning to do the Manchester 10k in May with the group from L’Arche.

Graham always seemed to have time to listen or to help. He was incredibly generous with his time and with his money as well. He had a great welcoming smile. He would see what needed doing and get on with it. We will keep remembering him when we have to find new people to do the many, many things he uncomplainingly got on with. We will miss his enthuisiasm for loud pounding beats at our gigs. We miss him always bringing milk for the brews. We will miss his smile. We will miss Graham, a wonderful friend.

As soon as we know details of the funeral we will let you know.

Andy
