Volunteers wanted!
At Sacred Trinity we love people to get involved and the church wouldn’t be here without the team of volunteers that keep everything going. We currently have two things that we are looking to recruit volunteers for. One is quite simple and the other more complicated.
Opening our building. As I sat down to write this a visitor from Sweden came in to church and loved having a look round. Whenever we have the doors open people come in. Some come in to pray or find a few minutes peace, some come in for the local history, some come in to shelter from the cold or wet, some want someone to talk to, some don’t. We have visitors from all over the world and we have locals, we have young students and the elderly and everywhere in between. We recently had someone who is 101 and used to worship at Trinity come in. I would love to be able to have the church open a lot more but to open we need volunteers to keep an eye on things. We want to find more regular times to open with a pool of volunteers so that there is always two people around when we’re open. Might you have time to volunteer? At the moment we are open 11-2 on a Tuesday and 4-6 on a Wednesday but if we could add one or two times to that it would be great. We could then also call ourselves a Pilgrim Place, which is a lovely new initiative amongst Northern Churches.
Our Building Project. We have an ambition to radically improve our building but we keep stuttering, and we need some fresh impetus on a small building project committee. We would love to have a couple of new people getting involved with skills in finance, fundraising, community initiatives or project management. Might you be such a person? Or do you know someone with useful skills and a little time to give who might be willing? Please talk to Andy if you have any ideas or want to know more. You can see where our ideas have got to here.
