Last winter churches came together to provide accommodation for homeless people during the coldest months of the year in the form of Greater Manchester Winter Night Shelters (GMWNS). This proved to be a valuable service to some of the most vulnerable members of our community and is going to be launched again this year in November.
Sacred Trinity Church are planning to open Sunday afternoons to offer a safe space for homeless people, in order to compliment the work of the night shelter and plug the daytime gap. We plan to open between 2 and 5pm each week, offering a warm safe space, hot drinks and biscuits and friendship.
SafeSpace@SacredTrinity is now recruiting volunteers. You just need to be willing to commit to a session and it can be once a month or once a fortnight; whatever fits with your circumstances. There will be a simple induction session before we open. Please come and help us offer this valuable service to homeless people at a time of year when they are most vulnerable to the elements.
As well as volunteers, we also welcome donations of games, puzzles, mobile phone chargers,in addition to tea, coffee and sugar.
